Mrs. Peters’ newspaper and yearbook staffs recently visited FHN’s publication classes taught by Mr. Aaron Manfull. Hollenbeck Middle journalism students joined Barnwell students on the bus to FHN. Upon arrival, all students were broken into three groups, and they rotated to the photography studio, a tour of the school, and publications classes. Students were excited to see the high school journalism students in action, and the two-hour field trip went by really fast. After returning to Barnwell, students went to the iPad lab with Mrs. Peters and “debriefed” by taking turns telling what their favorite part of the field trip was, what they thought could make the field trip even better, and their future plans for journalism classes.
Barnwell sixth grader, Nolan Underwood, traveled to Moberly, Missouri with his parents and his geography teacher, Jared Genenbacher to compete in the state Geography Bee. Nolan is the Barnwell Geography Bee Champion and had to take a multiple choice test in order to qualify for state competition. Only 100 students from across the state qualified for the competition and Nolan placed in the top 20. Congratulations! Click the story link above for a picture of Nolan and Mr. Genenbacher.
