"Since the House was in a technical session today, I had a chance to put on some more comfortable clothes and spend some time with students from Team Silver of the Robotics Team at Barnwell Middle School. These bright kids were in Jefferson City as part of the 3rd annual FIRST Lego League Capitol Invitational. The FLL is an alliance designed to get 9-16 year old children excited about science and technology, and Barnwell’s participation is a direct result of the Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) program in Missouri.
When I was growing up, the most technologically advanced program we could participate in at school was trying to see who could fix wheels on wood and get it to go the fastest. It is amazing to see such advanced technology, and to know that our kids are getting the chance to combine Legos with science is truly cool."
