During the school year, the Francis Howell School District (FHSD) Board of Education invites an outstanding student to represent their peers at the monthly Board meeting. In March, the Board entertained a special guest, only the second middle school student to serve as the student Board representative. Mr. Justin Caringal, the son of Sennen and Faergals Caringal, is an eighth grader at Barnwell Middle School. Barnwell principal Mr. Dave Eckhoff says, “It has been a pleasure and an honor getting to know this fine young man, and I look forward to his continued success.”  READ MORE...

Barnwell Spectra Students Participate in Mock Trials

Spectra students at Barnwell Middle School had the chance to experience, first-hand, the roles played in a modern courtroom. On Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, Spectra students, parents and grandparents, faculty, and staff worked together to participate in a trial simulation, “or mock trial,” in the lecture room at Barnwell. FHSD Schools Celebrate National Red Ribbon Week

The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) will be dipped in red the week of Oct. 24-28, as schools across the District and the nation celebrate Red Ribbon Week, an event dedicated to raising awareness for alcohol, tobacco, drugs and violence prevention. Barnwell Teacher Heather Tomicich Wins GAM Outstanding Educator Award

Gifted students deserve a gifted teacher, and that’s exactly what Barnwell Middle School, part of the Francis Howell School District, has to offer. Heather Tomicich, a Barnwell teacher, won the Delma Johnson Outstanding Educator of the Gifted Award at the Gifted Association of Missouri (GAM) Conference in October. Student safety is always a top priority of the Francis Howell School District (FHSD). The District annually conducts a variety of safety drills including fire, tornado, earthquake and intruder drills. Participation in these safety drills is where most students get directly involved in their own safety. FHSD Schools Earn Recognition for School, Family, and Community Partnerships

Barnwell and Francis Howell Middle Schools strive to be key cogs in our community, not only as places of learning, but also as centers of community engagement. Their efforts to join school and community together have earned them 2016 Partnership School Awards from the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at Johns Hopkins University.
